Hello and Happy Monday! I am exhausted. This weekend was busy and Hubs and I are under the weather…again! We can’t seem to shake this sickness. I really think it’s because of the extreme weather changes…one day it’s freezing, the next it’s summer! Here is how our weekend went down.
Friday
At work on Friday I went lunchless and was really grumpy. To make myself feel better I went to Zoe’s to get a light lunch (tomato basil soup and a greek salad and hummus) and to get a little blog work done. Well, their wifi wasn’t working so I decided to go to Z Gallerie and snap a few pictures for future purchases and inspiration.
I love this light. It looks like a jellyfish!
This Houston art was really nice. They have it for other cities too.
Saturday
We went to Galveston for the day.
and walked on the beach.
and put our rings in the sand. I also collected sand for our sand collection.
We went to lunch on the Strand and ate cupcakes. Basically, we ate our way around Galveston. I love food. Evidence is in the donk.
When we could eat no more, we decided to check our trusty Geocaching app to see if we could find some cool places. If you haven’t been geocaching yet here is a little bit about it. It’s a global thing where people hide stuff at certain coordinates. You go to those areas and follow clues that lead you to stuff. The geocaches we have found only include a little log sheet for you to sign but it’s cool to see how many people have signed. We may or may not have our own custom geocaching ink stamper…so there is no need to waste time writing our names. The app led us to this place on the island…and I quote “orphan asylum”. It’s a really beautiful yet creepy building and we would have never found/seen/known anything about it. If we hadn’t been geocaching.
Saturday night Oski (Toby’s nickname) and I took a trip to Petco to get some dog food. He wanted me to tell you that we used a coupon with his name on it and saved 10%.
After Petco we went to Home Depot to pick up some supplies to begin the door knob transformation in the house. More on that later. Here is a sneak peak.
And because all of that wasn’t exhausting enough, I decided to whip out Old Faithful and sew a few things.
This I watched some TV with lover boy (Hubs) while he rubbed/scratched my head. My favorite thing EVER! Want to be friends? Just offer to scratch my head. Weird? I think not! That may be why I have such a great relationship with my hairdresser.
Moving on….
Sunday morning
Both of us wake up feeling like DEATH!
I thought it would be a good idea to take all of the door knobs off the doors on the first floor to start prepping them for ORBing.
And since a women’s work is never done so I went grocery shopping while Hubs went to the Minute Clinic facility within the grocery store.
He left being diagnosed with pneumonia and a sinus infection. This boy never misses work and today he is thinking of coming home so I know it’s serious.
Since I gave up Starbucks for Lent, I went to Starbucks to get my Iced Vanilla Soy Latte with light ice.
After that, I went home to continue sanding and deglossing knobs in our front yard. I like the front yard because it lets me people watch. The weather was perfect on Sunday.
Overall, it was a slower weekend than normal but still quite productive.
I have a million things I need to do before I travel for work this week for my second job. I’ll be traveling west into Texas, a rare occasion. Or at least I think it’s west. 🙂
What did you do this weekend?

Phew…you guys were busy! Hope you get to feeling better!
Love the ORB transformation, you are brave! I want to do that in our house but then I start looking at all the knobs and hinges we have and change my mind, ha!
Wow this was a very busy weekend for y'all especially for being sick!
A few things:
-can't wait to see the door knob transformation!
-orphan asylum? That is definitely creepy!
-I'm a HUGE people watcher in the neighborhood lol
-Can we go shopping together sometime?!? I looked at some garage sales this weekend; not nearly as much as I think we could have.
Wow you were busy!! I totally want to go to Galveston. I've never been before. I wish today's weather was as good as yesterday's!
Sounds fun! And Galveston actually looks pretty in your photo – that is hard to do!
Based on the picture, it looks like your old knobs were brass? We moved into a house last year and everything was brass…lights, fixtures, door knobs, hinges, EVERYTHING. One weekend I just couldn't take it anymore and bought new knobs and hinges for every single one of the 18 doors in our house. I admire you for ORBing them all…I don't think I would have the patience!
I love the sand hand picture! So cute!
This weekend I went garage saleing with the hubs and found some treasures. Then we hung up curtain rods which we made out of iron pipes and connectors. So cool! 🙂 Then lots of random stuff around the house!
Sounds like a busy weekend! Love that you went geocaching! My aunt and uncle do it in the mountains here in Colorado and it sounds so fun! Thanks for linking up 🙂
Lovely blog, just found it through the blog hop. Looks like you had a great weekend. I am so envious of the weather you have!! Waiting for the snow to start to melt!
I absolutely LOVE the handprints in the sand (and even better with your rings)! Super cool.
Sorry to hear about you both being sick, and I agree with you – I think it's the extreme weather. It messes with us!
My weekend was full of house cleaning and and tons of laundry. Not very exciting, and that's why I'm loving YOUR weekend post. LOL

I'm SOOOO with you on the head scratching thing! Hubby and I do that for each other too. Anyone that will do that for you is definitely a keeper, don't you agree?
