The proposal–third person. How Lura ruined the original plan.
They had planned a trip to Scotland to spend the Christmas holiday with his family and Rich wanted to surprise Lura with a short stay in Paris. The first night they arrived, they went out for dinner at a nice little restaurant called, The Smoking Dog. The meal was excellent, except having to pay for water. Lura thought it would be a good idea to walk to the Eiffel Tower because it looked so close, however three miles in the bitter cold made it feel a lot further. They walked along the river, stopping off at a few cozy cafes for ‘warm’ drinks…. When we arrived, we both used the rest facilities to warm up, and they were just in time to see the light show. They sat on a little bench and watched the show. If you haven’t seen it, you really are missing out. Here is a video but it doesn’t do it justice. It is amazing.
Rich thought that would have been a great time to propose however he decided to hold off, as he had other plans. The plan was to walk back to the hotel and propose as they walked over a little wooden bridge. Lura had other plans. Only wearing Sperries, she was freezing and started to complain so
for the sanity of Rich they decided it would be best to take the Metro because the sidewalks were covered in ice – this messed up Rich’s plans for the bridge but he had another plan up his sleeve…. Whilst on the Metro Lura mentioned she wanted to phone home so Rich decided to hide the ring box with the phone. Back at the hotel, they went up to their room. Lura asked for the phone and Rich said it was in his jacket. Lura reached into his jacket pocket and felt what she thought was a ring box. Before she realized what was happening, Rich pulled the ring out of the box, got down on one knee and proposed.
Coincidence? I think not.
