I don’t know about you but I hate spending money. I recently priced window treatments for our dining room and WOW! We were going to need a 9-10 rod and the cheapest solid rod (without any seams) was $100+. I decided to DIY my own version. I found these knobs at Hobby Lobby for $10 ($5 when they went on 50% off sale!) and I love them! They are glass and brass and came with the washer and nut.
To fit these snuggly onto the ends of the curtain rod, I assembled them with corks! I’m so happy to see my drinking habits are starting to pay off in the home décor front.
I cut the cork a little to expose the threads on the knob so the washer and nut could go on. You can use a knife but I had a hack saw…because hacking things sounds like fun instead of cutting things. Duh.
Next, I drilled a hole into the cork (this doesn’t have to be perfect as long as it’s somewhat centered. Mine isn’t and that’s okay. If you are a cork drilling perfectionist and you mess up just drink more wine.
Now thread the cork onto the threaded knob, add the washer and nut. Done.
