I’ve completely forgotten about this event and it’s too great not to share. A while ago (almost a year now) I was asked to decorate for my managers retirement party. She loves the beach so naturally that would be the “theme”–FYI not everything needs a theme as long as it’s pretty.
We had a pretty tight budget for decorating but I accepted the challenge. This is how it turned out.
I used sand (super cheap at Home Depot) as a base, shells and wrapped rope around some 4x4x6 cubes. I secured the rope onto the wood with hot glue.
For the guest book, we chose scrapbook paper where guests could leave a nice note for her. These pages went in the back of her scrapbook that our department made her.
Here is a view of the entry table. Can you tell that the teal is a plastic table cloth?? The white is a real table cloth but since we couldn’t afford 7 plus colored table clothes we opted for plastic and used it as an overlay versus a table cloth. Yep that’s me pretending to not notice a camera in mauh grill.
And what party isn’t complete without a surprise Elvis to sing her into retirement?? PS She is obsessed with Elvis. If you live in the Houston area and you are looking for an Elvis you can contact Ralph Elizondo.
What do you think? I’m helping my department decorate for another managers retirement and this theme is music notes. I have an idea of what we are doing but please send ideas my way. Do you know someone with a music note Pinterest board? SEND IT MY WAY FOR SOME INSPIRATION!!!
